Tackling the Illegal Wildlife Trade in Singapore and Beyond by ACRES

Yeah, I had the urge to share with you guys out there who read my blog (which I doubt people read it).
Debbie, Charmaine and me had sacrificed some of our lunch time to attend a CCE talk.

I am really inspired in the talk.
TRUELY INSPIRED.
Topic being discuss was on Dolphins poaching, Shark fins and Bear Farming.
Shall not included the 1hr talk into this blog but I want to reinforce some point.
Firstly, it is WRONG to poach Dolphins.We always thought dolphins are cute and see it in the underwater world where they showcase dolphins doing tricks but we had never thought our happiness is being exchange through the pain and unhappiness of the dolphins. They have their rights to be with their families enjoying the wild. Secondly, We can really make a different by NOT HAVING SHARK FINS. Because of our high demand for Shark fin especially wedding dinner, the cruelty continues. Shark become gradually extinct because when their fin taken away, the fish merchant will throw them off the boat and the shark cannot swim without their fin and thus drown and die in the ocean floor. 
Thirdly, I do hope everyone will not buy any product like Bear Gall Bladders or their Paw. Because of your demand and think it is a very good Chinese medicine, you are actually encouraging the act of Bear farming where they cruelly treated. If anyone do not scare of gruesome and sadness , you may want to search on youtube about Bear farming. You will greatly sympathise the bears that they caught. Lastly, I feel everyone can make a different and play a part by even doing simple things. Remove all the craving for delicacies from the wild animals like shark fin, Bear gall bladder, ape etc. Remember, Wherever there is an increase in demand, there will be an increase in the supply. Therefore I strongly urge people to put a stop to all cruel act by start doing something to save the wild animal. At the very least, abstain from eating them or wanting them for luxury. Behind every man desires and happiness, reflect upon the price other sentient beings had to suffer and sacrifice to satisfy you. For people who are interested in volunteering your help, you may want to go into ACRES and find out more. One person strength may be limited but if we make an effort to do it, small effort can be a great impact. Never underestimate yourself. Let us change the world and make it a greater place to live in. |
